Some Notes about learning tango

Learning to dance Tango opens us to a potential new world of the senses. The secret of the “Tango Embrace” allows us to experience and perceive a realm of personal freedom and a poetic self-expression. Something not often encountered anywhere else in todays society.

Dance in general and Tango are in some ways a subjects that needs to be taken with some commitment in order to be learnt succesfully.

So we try to maintain classes with a light touch, and to bridge the gap between moments of difficulty and moments of elation that occur when learning dance.

Tango does require dedication to acheive the desired results, and learning to dance Tango is certainly a challenge.

The word “Basic” does not necessarily mean “simple” or “easy”… The fundamental techniques taught in this class can sometimes seem difficult and complex. The techniques taught in the Basic Tango class are the foundation stones that will carry the dance all the way through to advanced levels and beyond.
As with any learning process one comes across stumbling blocks.
With practice, it all gradually becomes sweet, easy and above all enjoyable.
People learn differently, and so move through the levels differently and at different rates. Everything you need to dance Tango Argentino correctly is covered in the Tango Basics course at 7.00pm on Mondays.

Moving on to Intermediate and Advanced levels….

Once you have become competent with your “Tango Basics”(I and II), you may wish move on to the Intermediate(III) on Monday nights at 8.00pm. Our teachers will approve your graduation to each new level as it arises.
Advanced at 9.00pm on Mondays is by invitation only (partner required )

Private lessons available by appointment for either a couple or a single. Email david@sidewalktango.com.au to make an appointment.
